On many GSPs forums people are very upset with the R11 server patch which is making it now impossible for server admins to kick/ban players from their own servers if they are "Official".

"Official" is where the "Play now" traffic comes from. Without it, many servers just remain empty.

Quote from one poster:

"I was coming to terms with not being able to use the move command to help balance teams, but now I can't even kick people who are causing a bad environment for other players (ex. racist comments, swastika emblems, etc.)? It's like proper admins are getting punished because some people may abuse the system.

I understand that DICE would want to sterile environment for people who just click Play now, but give me a break. This is not the way to go about doing it.

Sorry. Needed to get that one out there. I'm usually pretty patient with video game releases, but the amount of money I sunk into this one and this is what I get for it. I feel like I've been pretty much taken for a fool."

Any bans from third party anti cheat sites such as PBBans, GGC, Anti-cheat Inc will not be enforced. Third party anti cheat streams have been rendered useless by R11.

Many will be cancelling their server rentals and will no longer be buying this BF series.

And this folks is what people who are renting servers for this BF4 game are getting. Zero support for the gaming community from EA/DICE.

Due to DICE / EA disabling PB kick and ban functions in Battlefield 4 for servers running in official mode, PBBans will not support or function. Other modes such as Ranked, Unranked and Private work as they always have in the past and we advise streaming admins to not use official mode if they wish to protect their servers with PBBans.

When issuing a kick or ban command the PB logs will show a player is kicked / banned but nothing happens to them on the server. The same goes for players listed on the pbbans.dat banlist when they join.

This effectively makes PBBans and other AC communities unable to enforce bans making official servers more cheater friendly. The only thing that streaming official servers will give is banned players data for servers not running in official mode.

This was Dices intention all along for official servers. The fact we could use PB was an oversight. Their goal is to have a place protected from "bad admins".

What Dice is overlooking:
1. Hackers are a much bigger problem that bad admins. Dice is setting up a protected environment for hackers.
2. While abusive admins exist they are the exception not the rule. Far more servers are well and fairly managed.

While well intentioned, Dice has taken the wrong approach and should allow kicks / bans on these servers.

I agree. I think we can only hope now that players will start to catch on and actually search within the custom presets for the server and game style they actually want to play rather than just clicking play now and ending up on anti-anticheat- servers

We are running mixed mode with Rush @ %400 tickets (around 300) which puts us into a 'custom preset' filter and therefore we are not getting much browser traffic.
Whose bright idea was it to set 75 tickets as the norm for Rush in BF4...terrible decision.

I could regale about admin behavior and how it affects server communities, as I'm sure we all could. We've (Easy Company) kept a healthy CoD2 server since '06. But I've come to realize something, game developers don't want their games to be successful beyond a couple of years. Otherwise, how could they sell you a new one? Players only support quality servers for the long run. Quality performing and quality managed servers. I'm sure this is very obvious to DICE. Company managed servers will fail as they have over and over again for years. A good admin team is the key to longevity. But is that what DICE wants? We can only hope. I, for one, will not be spending any more money running a server the way they want. Because it wont work, and I can't stomach the abuse our players are taking.
