Punkbuster Messages from the Console

How can I stop the auto console messages from 'stacking up' on screen when the game is playing.

Eg, I have 5 messages setup in my pbsv.cfg file on the server:

PB_SV_Task 15 100 "Message 1"
PB_SV_Task 30 115 "Message 2"
PB_SV_Task 45 130 "Message 3"
PB_SV_Task 60 145 "Message 4"
PB_SV_Task 75 160 "Message 5

Now when i first join the server it brings up the 5 messages, but at different points on screen, so the 1st msg will come up after 15 secs, then 30, 45, 60, 75 respectively.

However when it then uses the second number in the commands [optional run in seconds] they all seem to appear at the same time on screen ! :?

This makes it look really untidy. Another clan member reckons I can't do anything about it, I say I can?

Any help would be appreciated. :!:

That's cause your delaying the repeat count for each Msg and it's causing them to gumble together. Change the second number, the repeat count, to be the same for all of them.

PB_SV_Task 15 100 "Message 1"
PB_SV_Task 30 100 "Message 2"
PB_SV_Task 45 100 "Message 3"
PB_SV_Task 60 100 "Message 4"
PB_SV_Task 75 100 "Message 5

What that setup does is, display the 1st message after 15 seconds, 15 secs later display M2, 15 secs after that display M3, etc. Then, 100 seconds after the first message, 25 seconds after the last M5 message, the process will start over again.

Even with that, these messages are rather close to each other, might I suggest using every 200 or 300 seconds rather then every 100 seconds; much less "spammy" with the higher repeat count.

Note: I'm not 100% sure this is the way this feature works as I've never actually used it but it's the way I interpret the command and it's usage so hopefully I'm right - I'm sure someone here will be able to verify it. In the meantime, give it a shot and let me know - I'm curious too

Anex, that didnt work m8 :(

The message still stack up after the first initial run. My second figure in each task [optional run in seconds] is set to 300.

There must be a way around this because other servers I've been in have multiple messages and they don't appear all at once.

You could always try running a 3rd party program (i.e. ServerWatch, Takai's ServerScan, AutoKick, etc.) to send you messages (AutoKick is the simpliest for that).

I've found that doing something like this works:
(I had the same problem)

pb_sv_task 60 100 "blah"
pb_sv_task 120 160 "blah2"
pb_sv_task 180 220 "blah3"

(ie. increment both numbers by the same amount)

Some still display together, but the problem isn't nearly as bad as before. All 5 messages would go at once after a while when I used a constant 2nd number.

Hey man, report back on how that works. I'm trying to get mine squared away and had the same problem you did. I'm at work right now so I can't test.
