Big news today for the millions of Call of Duty players and fans out there, it looks like we can expect some form of a reveal for the next Call of Duty title in less than one week!

Bloody dogtags, bearing the name of the late General Sheperd of Modern Warfare 2 fame were sent out to media websites and began arriving today. The dogtags bear the words, 'End the War' and include the URL FindMakarov.com.

Vladimir Makarov, as you may remember, was one of the main antagonists in Modern Warfare 2 and in that title he managed to escape from the player. It looks like this time around, Makarov will again be a central focus in the game, although details are not available at this time.

FindMakarov.com seems to be experiencing massive traffic and has been down for most of the morning. Before it went down, however, users were able to note a glowing green countdown that seems to be leading up to an event next Wednesday morning. Take a look at a screenshot of the countdown below and tell us that font doesn't have Modern Warfare written all over it.

Game Developers Conference (GDC) kicks off on Monday, so a reveal planned for Wednesday would be a very likely event. Curse will be there at GDC for all the happenings and will be reporting everything as soon as possible, so stay tuned!

woowoo's note -
With BF3 and MW3 going head to head this Fall ite promises to be a very competitive and interesting season. Who will "win"? But on the other hand - didn't I just buy Black Ops? And what about RO2:HoS, Rikochet, etc, etc?

Yawn...........No more COD, I wish it would just go away. There are soooo many better games that come out for PC this year. I actually hope that MW3 is a console exclusive, just get COD off of the PC platform.

Nope I don't remember. Oh wait that's because I was one of the few who actually stuck by their word when they said I would not buy the game.

Haven't spent a penny on COD since 2007, not planning on spending anything on this one either, but I'm interested to see what they'll offer with this game, but not more interested than I was with BO, which isn't saying much. With DICE touting their new tech behind BF3 I'd like to see what kind of approach IW is going to have towards MW3, what are they going to show off? texture streaming 2.0?

This is a hoax and not real, it very possible that EA put this up.

"Let me be clear we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax." - Activision Spokesperson"

Expecting a Call of Duty reveal next week? Spoke to Activision and they want to make very clear it's not happening next week.

Although in places I liked Black Ops, it is let down by constant lag and silly perks - especially extra conditioning which is ruining gameplay at the moment - I am not excited about MWx.

I did not buy MW2 and even if BO was better I will pass.

Unless...

MWx has:
prone & lean
biiiig maps
64 player multiplayer
dedicated server files
no connection to Activi$ion servers required

But.... what are the chances? LOL

The last CoD worth buying was Cod 4 - I still enjoy that one - more than BO.

Bring on RO2 - HoS! I have high hopes for this one.

Thank you

I have found Black Ops fun to play but it pisses me off in almost equal measure. I didn't get MW2 I found WaW a little disappointing. I didn't get the original CoD but did get CoD2 and 4. So after all of that the only one I have genuinely like was CoD4...

So out of 7 games I have bought four, but only liked one. I can't say one way or the other at this point if I'm going to get any more CoD games it's way too early to tell, it's not looking good...

The site is hosted by a company in culver city CA, theres also a major character from MW2 that flashes on the screen before the site loads. If it really is fake, its a good one. Acti may be bluffing here.

Long as they are not too big like BF or Crysis. It's boring when your just running around looking for people to shoot.

I think you're going to see more games require a connection to a central account server as it help prevent piracy.

As for the next game itself. I will never pre-order again that's for damn well sure; however, as with all games I will judge it when it comes out and if they make a game I want I will buy it.

I kind of accept that, but hope to see less of nuketown, killhouse and more of crossfire(Cod4), crash(Cod4), warehouse(UO), downfall(CodWaW), airfield(CodWaW).

And if you must have perks, make them more balanced. The current extra conditioning perk in BO, combined with he slight lag (I can only assume is due to constant connection to Activi$ion servers) makes the game very frustrating. Maybe because I refuse to use perks that are just silly(extra conditioning) or annoying (tube, last stand and martyr).

I started playing CoD4 again and found it more rewarding. UO wasn't too bad either...

The website has changed to a different look now, has Air radar with multiple aircraft on it with the countdown in the background.
