Well that about puts the nail in the coffin for the PC platform as far as crysis is concerned.

Feel bad for those guys over at crytek though, this is a massive leak that contains the entire SP and DRM masterkey.

Lots of screens up though, it does look pretty.

Official Crytek Statement. Very very troubling:

Crytek has been alerted that an early, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and playing the final, polished game on March 22.

Crysis 2 is still in development, and the team is hard at work on it and Crysis 2 promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion.

Piracy continues to damage the PC development community.

While I detest what's been done with Crysis, the truth is they need to tighten their security and know just who they allow access to their files.

Further, to expect and condone "group punishment" is nonsense. The entire PC Online Community didn't steal their software right from under their noses.

Punish the perp(s) use the law - lock 'em up. Set an example but don't punish everyone for the transgressions of one or two.

The sky ain't falling, Crysis has a thief in their midst.
I agree completely, why are they shouting at us! We did not steal it, must have been one of their own employees! Sometimes things leak out of the pressing plants or the retail outlets, but if this is an early beta or RC version then they need to look a little closer to home!

That piracy statement pissed me off actually. This is not the final game that someone got a few weeks early and leaked to the web, it's an internal development version. They should plug the leak instead of blaming others for their mistakes.

Lets see if they will cry piracy when the console versions get leaked a week or so before launch.

I agree with Mike, they need to find out who had access to the bits and track it back. Then prosecute them like they where selling console copies early.

And as Soulz said, don't bitch when you game sells a million copies and blame piracy.

Most people who want a game like this are going to buy it even after playing an "early" non-paid for beta. Use this as an oportunity to spread the word out that you have more work ahead and the game is no where near finished.

Again stop bitching and go find the bastard that leaked it.

If it has decent multiplayer people will buy it anyway, singleplayer will always be pirated. Games piracy is nothing new, it goes as far back as the C64 and before, people copied disks.

Sure its easier now to copy and spread but the market is also larger than it was in those old days.

You used to find that those in the top scene groups back then worked for the companies who produced the games anyway, the majority of crackers worked in the industry, it was no suprised things got 0 day leaked.

This is nothing new.

Meh. I don't even think I would waste my time downloading a pirate version of any Crysis game. Graphics aside, they are usually rubbish games.

All about tastes I guess. I liked Crysis SP, never got into MP since it was just boring. Maps in Crysis 2 seem much smaller which is not a bad thing.

And by god for DX9 it looks NICE.

True. I played both the SP and MP and didn't like either. Lovely looking game but it wasn't exactly exciting to play. I felt the same way about Far Cry 2. Lovely games to show off what can be done graphically but I need to enjoy the game first. That's why I think I will pass on Crysis 2.

Hope you enjoy Maydax. :salute:

Euh... those shots look average to me, not very good actually. I hope you aren't biased since you pre-ordered the game? ;)

Care to name games that look better in a pre-release state? Those images are from a DX9 beta from last month. If I judged by leaks or closed betas, I'd never buy another game again.

I hope you aren't biased since you pre-ordered the game?
I only paid $6 for it with my CoDBO credit (Which is still in my steam account oddly). I want something to put my new i5 2500K and GF460GTX to work :)

Cevat response - from DasReviews.com article.
_____________

Cevat Yerli: PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future

After the recent leak of Crysis 2′s beta version, a lot of gamers were wondering. Will Crytek stop supporting the PC platform? Will Crysis 3 be a console-only title? What are the consequences of this leak and is there any reason for PC gamers to get worried? No there isn’t. According to Cevat Yerli’s latest statement, PC gaming is very important to them and will always be important to Crytek in the future. You can read Cevat’s full statement after the jump.
"As you all have heard by now, an early, incomplete build of Crysis 2 has been leaked online. While we are deeply disappointed by these events, we are all completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from you, our community.

Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet!

We appreciate all of your continued support, and look forward to playing online with you soon! "

Thank you,

Cevat Yerli
