I recently visited the official forums and was shocked to discover that although Dedicated servers have been officially confirmed.

Treyarch are refusing to confirm that the files for dedicated servers will be made available to the public?

Anyone heard anything about this as it came as some surprise to me?

What was said by Lamia is that Dedicated servers and Server Browser would be there - the twist is that there would also be a system for matchmaking. As for the files i wouldn't get alarmed too much - Treyarch is right now. Either because they still dont know or else because they have something a little different for us.... No dedi files would be unlikely i think.

Do you have a link to a specific thread?

We all thought that with MW2 and look what happened there.

"Thought" is the keyword here. IW never confirmed Dedicated or Server Browser for MW2. West told Rudedog that dedicated files would be made avail but not on release.
Yep I know m8 but 402 said that 'PC would be the same as it has always been' before the Bash and Slash podcast where he crapped all over the PC community. All I am saying is be cautious. We still dont know to this day who decided against dedicated servers; IW or Activision.

402 is a turd who has no idea what he is talking about. "Same as it has always been" can refer to so much. Guess he was referring to the keyboard and mouse.

You bet, from Mackey's Interview (MP Lead) now a classic....

Ignoring IW.net, is the PC version a direct port of the console version?
Mackey-IW: No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings.

Treyarch knows what we would like. They have said pretty much that we wont be disappointed. Im more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point that we will be happy.

Its not Treyarch that concerns me it is what Activision decides to do or should I say tells them (Treyarch) to do.

Theres still a long time until BO's release so let's hope they spill the beans well before hand.

We all remember that idiot bolting saying "Nothing has changed with regards to dedicated servers with MW2"
So a great many people are nervous about pre-ordering BO.

Strange how Repawn have not whisked him away to LA...Maybe they could'nt get his head into a plane.. lol

Let's hope so because i think it will be probably the last Call of Duty game with dedicated servers :(

Guys i have a nasty feeling about this! Look how much we ALL were looking forward to MW2 and got shafted at the last minute in gaming terms. Of course Treyarch know this and i have a nasty feeling niggling me that they are hiding something from us!!!

I have a feeling that it will be released via approved suppliers due to some "unexpected" hiccup like BC2.

We knew the score with BC2 but i think we are being fed shite here and will get shafted.

I am talking from the point of view of a dedicated server admin and not from a gamer point of view.

In short i reckon the game will be good, its COD :)

Hi Goucho, hope things are well m8 :D

I will err on the side of caution like you and see how things pan out.

Although take this quote from a chat I had with a member of Treyarch : "Some issues I can't even go "I can't comment on this, sorry" - because even that "I cant comment" comment is too much."

Make of this what you will and I still have hope.

LOL, I going to take the positive spin to that and say in the fall "I told you not to worry!!"

Honestly no need to get all worked up now, if it turns out there are no DS one release just don't buy it.

I think if enough gamers vote with their wallets then we can make them give us what we want.

Unfortunately it won't matter. MW2 proved that. Look at the newest map pack ( a real map pack and not game modes added to existing maps :p ) that came out today. It's on the top of the steam best sellers list.

There are far more people who seem to have money to burn than people who will hold out because a game doesn't have DS etc.

What really gets me is that Treyarch knows the COD community is sitting on pin and needles about ded server files. So why have they NOT confirmed anything yet. No news in this case is bad pr. They are not that stupid, they know this.

It's starting to look like we are going to get snowballed into another version of iwnet. (sarcasm)I am sure they will call it something else, because you know it will be an improvement over ded server files, with the gamers needs in mind.. lol Or some bs story like that.

Yeah I do agree here...We all talk about how crap MW2 is and how it shafted the PC community yet it's still getting 60,000 plus a day playing it...

Unsavoury as it is I feel that Treyarch will be chasing a piece of that action because Activision will insist on it.

Still they have at least stated that dedicated servers will be shipped with the game so the only real questions are in what format i.e. ranked etc and will the files be made public?

We live in hope..Not much hope but still a little is better than none..lol
