I can't get PB to work.

I have the following in my Server.cfg file

// Enable Punkbuster
// Turns on punkbuster requirements for the server
set sv_punkbuster 1
set PB_SV_CvarLogging 2
set PB_SV_CvarWalk 4
set PB_SV_CvarUserPulse 15
set PB_SV_CvarChangedPulse 15

Is there more I need to do? our PA server is currently a rented server from RabidServers.com, do I need to have then activate something?

Thought this would be easy....nothing is...

Nevermind I figured it out.

You must activate Punkbuster using the command line, there is no other way I can see of activating it.

+ set punkbuster 1

in the command line and it works perfect.

Yes and be sure it is AFTER you exec your cfg.

Code:
mohpa_server.exe +exec configs/Server.cfg +set punkbuster 1

Punk buster is working for sure. However, now I have a problem that most of my squad are getting kicked after a few minutes. They are getting kicked by punk buster saying that their Pak7 file is invalid. Below is the entry from the PB Log on the server.

~~~ Log Entry
01.03.2005 18:34:10] Master Query Sent to (MOHPA1.EVENBALANCE.COM) 159.153.234.157
[01.03.2005 18:34:12] Received Master Security Information
[01.03.2005 18:34:26] MD5Tool ["main\pak7.rez" NOT_FOUND] from (slot# 1) _CH_PainGiver
[01.03.2005 18:34:27] VIOLATION (MD5TOOL) #9002: _CH_PainGiver (slot #1) MD5Tool Mismatch: main\pak7.rez [f7e6de1f0e6370712f05c4513b5692e7(VALID) 69.192.233.140:13203]
~~~ End Log Entry

It happened to me to, I haven't installed anything locally other then the patch for MOHPA. Several mates also said they didn't install anything either. I noticed on my location installed I don't have a pak7.rez file in my main folder.

I have a realism mod running from RDH (thanks! it rocks) and a message mod running from Rudedog (thanks!) for cycling messages. Other then that the server is pure.

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't have a local pak7.rez file so I'm sure that is the problem, but why didn't it install? :confused:

I think I've figured this out, but before I go screwing up my PA server more I would like to make sure of it.

The server we are running is using the "Director's Edition" of PA, and there appears to be one very large (12GB) pak7.res file that is with the Director's Edtion and not with the regular addition I'm running at home and therefore PB is not finding the PAK7.RES file on my home compy and booting me for being a cheatin hacker.

I found a .cfg file pbsv.cfg in the Pb folder that had the following contents.

pb_sv_md5tool a "" v mohpa.exe SZ10889623 AT0 LEN2048 36B2D06977CA928A00C7B6CCB5754A3A

pb_sv_md5tool a "" v main\pak7.rez SZ1205416087 AT0 LEN2048 CF8E1BDD6CF61AA93F652902C44FD9A8

I think if I remove the last line (the one with the reference to pak7.rez, my users won't get that message any more?

Am I right?

Thanks in advance.

if you don't mind setting pure mode on your server you can get rid of the hassle of the md5 tool checks, if not maybe someone else can answer

Since the DE edition is the only one that has the pak7 file I think it only contains the "extras" that the regular version doesnt have. I dont have mine installed yet so I cant look to be sure. Try moving the pak7 file to another folder temporarily and see how the server runs without it. My guess is that its not needed by the server.
