Mod tools package 1.0 will be released along side the next patch (1.07):

Expect them in the next couple of weeks (i.e. before the end of Feb). It includes a new Radiant. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's the mapping program used for COD.

LOL, my prediction was for the tools to show up at about the 100 day point after the November release and damn I am within a week or so of that mark.

When you consider that the average wait time for mod tools for COD is three months, that wasn't exactly a difficult prediction to make was it? I think a good majority of us knew it would be within 3 to 3 and half months, which is about 100 days.

My read of the tweet is that 1.061 is coming imminently (sounds somewhat like a hot fix), and 1.07 a bit later.

You may have additional information that I'm not aware of - should I expect the tools along with 1.061 or with 1.07?

Sorry, I meant the 1.07 patch, not the very next patch (1.061). I edited my post to reflect that.

the 1.07 patch is a "major" patch because it will introduce the mod directory as well as address other things to be fixed. Without the fs_game mod/usermaps directory working, no mods or maps.

Actually just reading the tweet again and there are commas in between each:

In progress for PC: Patch 1.061 (now in QA), Patch 1.07 (major patch), Mod Tools package 1.0

So Modtools looks more to be NOT in patch 1.07, but 1.07 might bring some preparation work for mod support.

Im in a good mood anyway David because some nameless website owner didnt believe me months ago and called me an evangelistic cheerleading asshole and run me and others out of his site for spreading false hope to the masses with that prediction.

So yes, it was pretty much a given that it would be 3 months and a bit for the next one to show up. But at least I had the balls to make the statement in the face of some pretty heavy bullshit and stick to it. I dont recall you making any public statements to that effect.

No matter, It will be fun to play with some new toys. :D
On the matter of public statements as to the projected date of the mod tools release, I have made several of them on 2 different sites. However, you are banned from both of them, so I wont link you to them. but to confirm it, you could get one of your boyfriends to check them out.

EDIT -

Here is a link to one of my statements about release dates for tools, made on this very site:

I heard through the grapevine that Treyarch are on schedule to release mod and map tools (yes, there is going to be a new version of Radiant) either late January 2011, or early February 2011.

I noticed the commas and I was wondering the same thing.

Im sorry that you see some sort of conspiracy in everything that everyone says. So since it bothers you so much I will return to calling you by your more infamous name.

The really funny thing is about this is that I never once said that you never made similar statements out and around the internet. Yet, the first thing out of your pie hole was to shit on my simple little statement. That is sad coming from you, especially after you made yourself out to be so much more clever than me. But fine, I sleep well at night.

Hell I know the one site that you are referencing and that is rgn that I was banned from and I really dont consider that as a bad thing. Hell you have been banned there repeatedly over the years until you get unbanned just to be used again. Enjoy your honeymoon over there because you know it wont last. As for the other site, Codutility, I am a registered member over there as well but just like you I use different names and Alain knows who I am over there. Gosh if it was so bad between Capt and I would I have his logo on Mappers United?
Tony and I are friends, we dont need to cook up things between us to get you wound up since you can do that all by yourself.

Probably best if we return to the topic at hand and the great news that is contained within.

It is a shame though that a man such as yourself with your given talent and abilities is so consumed with self importance and such a sunny dispostion.
Lol, you talk to me about self importance. You've been around this community for only the time it takes to have a shit and a shave, and from day one you were flapping those Slap Head lips of yours like you were some kind of big shot. In fact, we have a nick name for you - Captain Self Aggrandizer - or the other one is Captain Big Himself Up.

As for your lame attempt at irony, you speak of my "sunny disposition", but the irony of the situation is it is no surprise to anyone who knows you that you've fallen out with everyone who has crossed your path because of your nasty flapping mouth. I sometimes call you Ray of Sunshine, because that's exactly what you're not.

BTW - I don't think I'm smarter than you, I know it. College education beats a life as a truck driver with no college education any day of the week Pal.

Double BTW - it's spelt "disposition". Not "dispostion".

Say Goodnight Steven.

Come on what could go wrong with the devs saying Mod tools will be released?

Oh, they said the same thing about dedicated servers....... what they say and what they mean are two totally different things

I am pretty sure Rude asked you guys to keep that BS off of his site? If you want to play like kids go to that site where you are welcome?

On Topic
This is good news but I am still wondering exactly what all we will get.

Mod Tools 1.0... hmmmm. I am still of the opinion that these tools won't be as in-depth as modders are used to.
Depends what you mean by in-depth ;) WAW tools were far from perfect at first and we had to do all sort of workaround and still do to this day for stuff like extra vehicles. But really as long as there is mod support the Community can create awesome stuff! But what you mean perhaps is will it have Radiant for mapping? No reason why not.

Assuming of course that Radiant is part of these new ModTools I am thinking that we will at the very least be able to map in a manner similar to what we experienced with World at War tools. Took a while to get those fixed and functioning properly but a lot of great maps were made with those tools and continue to be made to this day.

I suspect that as I mentioned the tools should be at the very least familiar and yet we have all, for the most part, played BO and have seen the fresh new textures, models etc that are and have been used. I hope that we get those, all of those. There is the streaming additions like the rocket lifting off in Launch and so on. I hope that they can be added with minimal fuss.

I have heard something about we wont be able to make the maps as big as we have done in the past because of all the new goodies that are available in the maps because of the effect on framerates or something like that. Time will tell what the limits are going to be.

It should be a fun spring this year because Im sure that many mappers are probably already with maps that they have built in WaW in preparation to plunk them into the new BO tools to finish.
